We expanded our Cicero team to prepare for the massive influx in U.S. elected official data and released a tool to help you browse elected official and district data based on an address!

What is Cicero?

The Azavea Data Analytics team manages Cicero, a global database of elected officials and legislative districts that is made available as an API, as a batch processing system, and as a licensed database. Cicero enables non-profits and other civic organizations to advocate more effectively by connecting constituents with their elected officials at the local, state, and national levels.

You can now Find your Elected Officials & Districts by visiting live.cicerodata.com. This tool allows you to browse the elected official data within the Cicero database that is related to a specific address.

New Cicero Staff

We work hard to keep our database of elected official data as up-to-date as possible! Three Research Specialists joined the Cicero team to complete research and data entry of legislative candidates and elected officials to update the Cicero database. These Specialists will stay on top of term start dates and add elected officials’ contact information.

Research Specialist Bios

Aaron Dennis

Aaron recently graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Geography and a focus in cartography. Previously, he worked on international humanitarian maps and visualizations with the Red Cross. Aaron is interested in representative democracies and how data can drive politics and campaigns. Outside of work, Aaron can be found riding bicycles, volunteering with campaigns, breaking his vegetarian diet for a basket of hot wings, or relaxing with the occasional Netflix binge.

Ashleigh Rhodes

Ashleigh has a BS in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, a Masters of Arts in Teaching from American University, and a Master’s in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of West Florida. Ashleigh has been a high school math teacher, a university instructor, a fine arts fabricator, and a full-time parent. She is very interested in applying statistics and data analysis in ways that improve people’s lives. When not at Azavea, Ashleigh spends her time with her two girls, who are 5 and 3, and volunteering as President of the Parents Association at their school, the French International School of Philadelphia. Her kindergartener speaks much better French than she does.

Stacy Henderson

Stacy graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a degree in Social Work. Before joining Azavea, she was the assistant director for a nonprofit in rural Arkansas, focusing on community development through literacy and youth programming. She is interested in research as it relates to social issues and is excited about the opportunity to work on a project like Cicero. Outside of work she can be found baking, walking her dog, eating guacamole, or watching West Wing reruns.
