On December 12 at 1pm ET, we’ll be hosting the fourth and final webinar in our 2012 series of webinars on OpenTreeMap and other software tools for urban forestry. We’ve enjoyed talking about mobile apps, community engagement, and crowdsourced tree inventories. Thanks to all of you who have joined us!
In this last webinar, we’re tackling the subject of the neverending amounts of data that seem to accumulate from all our urban forestry projects. Your data – whether it’s tree inventories, species lists, maps, images, event and volunteer info, or something else – can be a powerful tool for telling the story of your projects and gathering support for environmental activities. Organizing that data and turning it into beautiful and useful visualizations, however, can be overwhelming. As part of this webinar, we’ll look at how you can make your data work for you using a few low-cost software tools. We’ll review some of our experiences working with forestry related data for OpenTreeMap and discuss new methods you might use to explore your data.
During this webinar, you will learn how to:
- Find free and low-cost tools for data organization
- Clean and organize data for use in various projects
- Use visualization tools to tell a story with your data
- Get the public involved in viewing and contributing to your data
You can register for the December 12 webinar at https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/872264150.
We hope you will be able to join us as we discuss data organization and visualization in urban forestry. If you can’t make the webinar, please contact me at dboyer@azavea.com. I’d be happy to answer any questions or send you a link to the webinar recording once it’s available.
