On September 25 at 2pm ET, we’ll be hosting the third in our series of webinars on OpenTreeMap, the open source software for collaborative, geography-enabled urban tree inventory. Since we just launched the first app that uses OpenTreeMap Mobile, this webinar is all about mobile technology and urban forestry!
We’re calling it “Exploring Mobile Technology with OpenTreeMap Mobile” webinar, and we’ll take a look at how we built a mobile version of OpenTreeMap that can be accessed via iPhones, iPads, and (coming soon) Android devices. Amy Miller from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission will join us to talk about how her team used PhillyTreeMap, accessed via iPads, to conduct a large-scale tree inventory here in Philadelphia.
During this webinar, we will focus on:
- How mobile technology can assist in urban forestry projects
- How arborists and citizens can both use OpenTreeMap Mobile to explore and gather data on the urban forest
- Information on how OpenTreeMap was used for a large scale tree survey
- Ideas for integrating mobile tech into your outreach and education activities
You can register for the September 25 webinar at https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/190056446.
We hope that you will join us to share your ideas about how mobile technology and open source software could assist with urban forestry projects. If you can’t make the webinar, please contact me at dboyer@azavea.com or visit the OpenTreeMap website for more info.
