If you are currently an undergraduate or a graduate student and studying GIS or spatial analysis, consider applying for the 2019 season of Summer of Maps. Summer of Maps is a summer fellowship offered by Azavea which helps fellows build their portfolios and skills while completing cutting edge projects for nonprofits. Fellows work full time in Azavea’s Philadelphia office and receive one-on-one mentoring, a $6,000 stipend and additional benefits.
In its 8th year, Summer of Maps has completed 40 projects with nonprofits and graduated 20 fellows from the program. Last year, fellows analyzed eviction data in New Orleans, prioritized rehabilitation areas based on species habitat, and mapped citizen science marine debris data for the Mid-Atlantic region, to name only a few of the projects.
